Many mouthwatering Asian beef recipes are unique and delicious. They are found and eaten in China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and other Southeast Asian countries.
In Asian cuisines, beef is one of the most common meats used in most of their recipes. They are mostly used when stir-frying meat, mixing with noodles, or making a soup.
In my experience, pork and seafood are more common meat served in street foods and restaurants. For example, this might be true in the Philippines, Vietnam, China, or other East Asian countries. But, if you travel to other Muslim-friendly Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, or Singapore, you can easily find different kinds of Asian beef dishes.
In my experience, I tried many varieties of Southeast and East Asian cuisines some of which serve popular beef dishes. Although most of them serve pork dishes, they do have other popular beef recipes that will melt your mouth. It is usually served as a soup, noodle, or fried rice dish.
What type of beef used in Asian Cooking?
In my experience, when I ate in different Asian restaurants, they mostly use ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin steak. But, in some cases, the type of beef that is used depends on every country.
For example, in Chinese cuisines, Flank steak is a common type of beef used in their cooking. On the other hand, Japanese and Korean cuisines, used thinly sliced rib-eye or sirloin steak. This is true if they are serving shabu-shabu or making bulgogi dish. Also, if you prefer high quality beef, you can use the wagyu beef that is commonly served in Japan
Lastly, in the Philippines, if you are making soup with vegetables, the type of beef they used is either beef shanks or bone marrow. An example dish would be Filipino bulalo or nilaga soup.
How are the beef cooked and served?
In western countries, you are familiar that beef is mostly cooked in grilling, stewing, pan-searing or barbecuing.
In Southeast Asian and East Asian cuisines, there are different how beef is being served and cooked. For example, we like to make fried rice (Chinese Fried Rice); mixed with noodle dish (Japanese Ramen or Filipino Pancit), and make a soup (Vietnamese Pho or Filipino Bulalo)
